Job Overview

Reporting to the Community Development Manager, the Project Coordinator will assist and coordinate the advancement of work in several areas including public relations and engagement, Indigenous relations, fund development, equity, diversity and inclusion and food security This role is focused on capacity building projects in the community. Capacity building is one area of focus for the Community Development department, that strives to deliver person-centered, community-focused programs and services that foster wellbeing for all ages. 

The start date of this position is as soon as possible with an end date of October 31, 2026.

Work performed:  

  • Assist in the development of grant funding opportunities.  
  • Assist with the development of content for funding applications.  
  • Coordinate letters of reference and other required documents. 
  • In coordination and collaboration with the communications manager, support public relations and engagement activities across departments to ensure a diverse range of input from the public. 
  • Document conversations and track trends emerging from Community Conversations. 
  • Assist in the development of tools and systems to advance equity, diversity and inclusion.  
  • Coordinate Inclusion Committee meetings including documenting meetings and activities of the committee. 
  • Track the progress on the 5-year Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Master Plan. 
  • Assist in the advancement of Indigenous relations activities for the municipality. 
  • Assist in the development of an Indigenous Relations strategy. 
  • Coordinate two special events per year that involve indigenous partners. 
  • Coordinate relationship-building activities with Indigenous partners. 
  • Assist in the development of initiatives that promote food security in Jasper.
  • Identify opportunities for the municipality to collaborate with food focused groups or non-profits. 
  • Coordinate the development of training opportunities for the public to help understand and support increased food security for the community. 
  • Participate in Jasper Food Alliance meetings.

Job Requirements

Your resume and cover letter must clearly describe how you meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in public relations, public engagement, business, community development, political science, local governance, Indigenous relations or a related field. 
  • Experience in a related field such as: public relations, communications, community development, non-profit sector, Indigenous relations, local government or fund development. 
  • Experience in a municipal government environment is an asset. 
  • Experience working with or reporting to a Board of Directors is an asset. 
  • Experience working in a confidential, trauma-informed work environment is an asset.
