Anticipatory - Term positions, from April to October 2026, with the possibility of extensions

Parks Canada is seeking motivated individuals who enjoy the challenges of a fast paced work environment. The dispatch coverage area includes Jasper as well as more than 40 other national parks and historic sites across the country. We are looking for individuals with the ability to work calmly and effectively under the pressures of competing work demands, to deal with emergencies and to work shifts including nights, holidays and weekends. Dispatching requires a high degree of precision and accuracy to record and relay information to and from a variety of sources. Given the nature and scope of this work, strong oral and written communication in English is essential for all positions and additionally strong oral and written communication in French is needed for bilingual positions. For emergency radio telephone communication, the ability to speak in a calm, clear, regular and understandable manner is imperative.

Job Requirements

• You must be willing to work overtime.
• You will be required to work shift-work, and/or weekends, and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays as scheduled by your delegated manager.
• You are required to undergo and meet requirements for a pre-placement and periodic health evaluation as outlined in Parks Canada Occupational Health Monitoring Program.
• You may be required to wear a uniform while performing your duties. In this case,
Parks Canada will provide you with the uniforms you require in accordance with the
Parks Canada Uniform Policy.

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.

EXPERIENCE:
• Working effectively alone and within a team;
• Adhering strictly to protocols, procedure, and policies;
• Dealing with the public and providing accurate advice and information;
• Working with computers and various software;
• General administrative tasks, such as updating and maintaining operational manuals, communication logs, databases, and reports.

• Knowledge of visitor safety, wildlife conflict, law enforcement, and other emergency procedures;
• Knowledge of Jasper national park geography.
