Job Overview

Reporting to the Housing Manager, the Municipal Housing Coordinator is responsible for advancing all housing-related matters on behalf of the municipality. This includes supporting the Jasper Municipal Housing Corporation (JMHC), managing the municipality’s relationship with MPL Place, evaluating, improving and delivering processes related to the provision of municipal staff accommodations and advancing the construction of new residential units where the municipality or JMHC are involved. The role also includes taking a leadership role in education and advocacy related to community housing matters.  

This position is for a two-year term. 

Work performed:  

  • Administrative work to support the Jasper Municipal Housing Corporation, including preparing board documents, fulfilling Board requests, JMHC Bylaw and annual filing requirements.
  • Process applications for MPL Place, respond to enquiries, update application forms and maintain a list of eligible tenants.
  • Answer general housing inquiries on availability and application process for housing in Jasper. Maintain up to date information on housing options and contact info on the Municipality of Jasper’s website.   
  • Deliver the Municipalities employee housing program in accordance with Council Policy D-116. Including tenant lease management, developing annual financial plans and delivering reports.
  • Advance the construction of new residential units, including administering housing programs and initiatives related to grant funding, assist in reporting on and monitoring housing programs and initiatives as set out in the Jasper Housing Action Plan.

Job Requirements

Your resume and cover letter must clearly describe how you meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma/in real estate sales, business or office administration, hospitality management or a related field.  
  • Demonstrable experience in related fields such as: property management, real estate, residential ownership.  
  • Working knowledge of Alberta Residential Tenancy Act. 
  • General administration, such as: working with time-sensitive issues and meeting deadlines, communication, web-site updates, computer competence with Microsoft office programs. 
  • Experience in a municipal government environment or NACLAA Certificate is an asset. 
  • Commissioner of Oaths for the Province of Alberta is an asset.
