The Astoria Hotel, a beloved Jasper hotspot, is seeking an experienced Food & Beverage Manager to oversee the operations for De'd Dog Bar & Grill, as well as Papa George's Restaurant

About the Role

As the Food & Beverage Manager, you’ll report to the General Manager and the Chef. You'll be responsible for 

  • Overall performance of Bar & Restaurant
  • Leading of team of servers and bartenders
  • Ensuring smooth daily operations and exceptional customer service
  • Working closely with the Chef and Kitchen Manager to ensure food purchases meets current budgets as well as quality standards

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Operations: Oversee daily operations of the bar and restaurant, ensuring efficient service, a positive workplace, and compliance with all health, safety, and liquor regulations (e.g., Alberta liquor laws, food safety standards).  
  • Event Oversight: Manage key events, including private parties, public events, and large reservations (40+ guests), ensuring management presence or arranging a designated supervisor when unavailable.  
  •  Staff Management: Recruit, train, and schedule staff; address performance issues and foster a collaborative team culture.  
  • Inventory & Asset Control: Monitor inventory levels for food, beverages, and supplies; conduct regular counts, place orders, and safeguard assets against loss or misuse.  
  • Guest Experience: Maintain the De’d Dog’s signature vibe through music, lighting, and cleanliness; handle customer feedback or complaints with professionalism.  
  • Financial Oversight: Work with the General Manager to manage budgets, control costs, and drive revenue through promotions and events.  
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all staff hold required certifications (e.g., ProServe for liquor service, food handling permits) and adhere to Alberta laws governing liquor service and workplace safety.  

 

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2-4 years in a supervisory role within food and beverage, ideally managing both bar and restaurant operations.  
  • Certifications: Valid ProServe certification (or willingness to obtain); food safety certification an asset.  
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to multitask in a high-volume setting.  
  • Availability: Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and peak tourist seasons (e.g., summer, ski season).  
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with Alberta liquor laws, health regulations, and hospitality best practices.  
  • Personality: Friendly, professional, and passionate about delivering top-notch guest experiences in a mountain-town setting.
