For emergency radiotelephone communication, the ability to speak in a calm, clear, regular and understandable manner is imperative.
Work environment
Jasper Dispatch is a 911 emergency call centre for Jasper national park. Known as the ‘first’ first responders, emergency dispatchers are the crucial communications link between our visitors and the professionals who keep people safe and protect the animals and environment for future generations.
After intensive training, your job will be to gather critical information about emergencies, then relay it to the personnel you will dispatch to the scene. You will be expected to follow established procedures and protocols to get the right people, to the right place, at the right time. You will also play a key role in ensuring occupational health and safety for park wardens, mountain rescue specialists, wildlife officers, highway equipment operators, researchers, and other Parks Canada team members. Additionally, you will help our guests by directing their queries, questions, and comments to the appropriate experts.
