Job Overview

As a member of the team, you contribute directly to the Municipality’s service quality and public image. Work includes, but is not limited to:

  • Clean and disinfect municipal facilities, including offices, washrooms, and program spaces
  • Maintain floors, windows, furniture, and fixtures
  • Restock supplies and replace light bulbs
  • Follow building security and access procedures
  • Provide training and support to custodial staff
  • Perform preventative and minor repairs (painting, plumbing, drywall, carpentry)
  • Report major repair needs to supervisors
  • Assist with setup and takedown for events and programs
  • Inspect boilers, generators, lift stations, and other systems
  • Ensure facility safety and take corrective action when needed 
  • Monitor custodial performance and standards
  • Coordinate facility support for events with managers
  • Follow municipal safety policies and Alberta OHS regulations

Job Requirements

Your resume and cover letter must clearly describe how you meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license 
  • First Aid/CPR certificate
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in custodial, building, or facility maintenance.
  • Physically fit and able to perform work that includes light to moderate lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally 
  • Equivalencies may be considered on the basis of one year experience for one year of education.
