COMMUNITY SCHOOL WORKER
Part-time position (9 hours per week)
École Desrochers, located in Jasper

Job Description:
The community school worker plays an important role in the development of students’ identity formation. Acting as both an inspiring and meaningful role model, they provide authentic experiences that encourage awareness, belonging, and engagement with the Francophone community. They are a cultural leader who highlights the diversity of Francophone culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and lead a program of artistic, cultural, and recreational activities in collaboration with the school administration and team;
  • Coordinate activities, prepare necessary resources, recruit and supervise volunteers;
  • Involve students in the design, planning, and promotion of certain activities;
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and the Francophone community;
  • Participate in field trips, team meetings, and produce required reports;
  • Promote a school culture that respects and honors diversity; and
  • Perform any other duties related to the position as assigned by their immediate supervisor

Skills Required:

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Plan, organize, and effectively manage events or projects;
  • Collaborate in a changing school environment and demonstrate flexibility;
  • Be comfortable using computer tools (Google Suite, Office, etc.);
  • Understand the realities of the Francophone community in Alberta and know its partners;
  • Work as part of a team and maintain positive community relationships.

Position Qualifications:

  • Hold a diploma or degree in recreation, leisure studies, or another related field;
  • Have experience in developing and leading activities;
  • Be proficient in French (oral and written) and have functional English;
  • Hold a valid Alberta driver’s license and be willing to travel; and
  • Provide a recent criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector check, before starting.
