Conducts highway/road clearing and snow removal using medium and heavy vehicles (Wheel loader, grader, skid steer) and equipment requiring a Class 1 license with air brake endorsement; operates/controls multiple blades and salting mechanisms; and performs a variety of highway/road maintenance tasks for the Parks Canada Agency.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Class 1 driver’s license with air brake endorsement

EXPERIENCE
• Experience driving heavy trucks
• Experience operating heavy equipment

KNOWLEDGE
• Knowledge of highway maintenance and traffic control procedures.
• Knowledge of safety measures and regulations common to highway maintenance.

ABILITIES
• Ability to operate heavy trucks up to GVW 60,000 pounds
• Ability to visually inspect equipment and perform pre and post trip maintenance
• Ability to assess and report on road, visibility, and weather conditions.

ASSET EXPERIENCE

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Required to wear identifier clothing and required safety equipment.
• Required to travel over roads closed to the general public and to work under avalanche hazard conditions.
• Required to travel and/or work in a variety of weather conditions and terrain for extended periods of time.
• Required to work shift work – during day – and nighttime hours, overtime, weekends, and/or statutory holidays, provincial/territorial holidays, and call back or standby duty.
• Candidates will be required to undergo and meet the requirements for a medical examination/pre-employment medical examinations and/or periodic medical checks.

Conditions of employment
